Funeral Details

Francisco J. Garate, 85, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed.

Francisco was lovingly known to all his grandchildren as Ito. He grew up in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, where he met and married Esther, his beloved wife of 65 years. In the 1960s, they moved to Chicago, where they settled and raised their family. Above all, Francisco cherished his family, who were the center of his life. He retired early and devoted himself to caring for his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, six children, 17 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Midtown Funeral Home, 3918 West Irving Park Rd., Chicago, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The family invites all who knew him to attend and share their memories.
