OBITUARY

Lynne E. Graff was born in Chicago on August 24, 1945, and she died peacefully in her home in Chicago on June 15, 2023. She was the daughter of William and Lydia Schmanke and married her high school sweetheart Frank N. Graff Jr. on October 16, 1965. They were married for 49 years at the time of his passing in 2014. They have been survived by their three children: Cindy Elliott (Tom), Kim Sorkin (Adam), and Chris Graff (Tricia) and 10 amazing grandchildren. Though disabled by partial paralysis since 2010, she made great strides toward living a full life where she enjoyed the company of many new friends made at Brookdale Senior Living. There she continued to pursue her favorite joys that included crafting and jewelry making which was not easy given her physical limitations. Watching her manage and succeed through the many challenges she faced was an inspiration to us all. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 18, 2023 from 2:00 - 7:00 pm at Midtown Funeral Home located at 3918 West Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL 60618. She will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved Frank on Monday in a private burial service at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate via check to Brookdale at Lake Shore Drive for continued investment in their garden center which Lynne enjoyed so much. The family will gather checks and deliver to Brookdale. Arrangements by Midtown Funeral Home and Cremation Options, 773.654.3744, www.midtownfunerals.com

I was lucky enough to meet Lynne when I moved to Brookdale 4 years ago. She made me feel welcome right away. We shared a love of doing crafts, my special interest being sewing. I loved to find out about items that I could make to surprise Lynne with that would make her everyday life a little easier. She was always so appreciative of these things and made good use of them . Lynne was an amazing , kind, thoughtful, caring person and good friend who will be greatly missed by me and many others. She was always so pleasant and never complained about her health. Our dinner group and game playing groups haven’t been the same without Lynne. She was certainly an inspiration to me and everyone else that had the pleasure to know her.

Cindy, Kim and Chris:
I am sorry for your loss and that I won't be able to attend. Each of us will miss Lynne in our own way but her trial is over and she is home with Jesus.
I will continue to pray that the Lord will comfort and console each of you and your families, and give you His strength in the coming days.
Lord bless you,
Dean

Good memories of Lynne from when we cousins were kids growing up together. Remembering how she loved decorating her home and having "club" at her place. I know she is finally pain free and at peace.
