OBITUARY

Richard John Hatton was born November 2,1967, in Plymouth, England to Terence John and Lorraine Hatton, the first of two children. After graduating from McCullough High School in 1986, Richard attended the University of Dallas earning a degree in Economics. With his Economic degree, he pursued a successful career in international shipping which allowed him to retire a few years ago. Richard was a devoted Liverpool supporter and avid football fan which caused a wee bit of contention between him and his father, who is a West Ham follower. He enjoyed his daily walks, a good game of chess (that he would always win!), playing the stock market, and spending time with his family and friends. Our beloved Richard will continue to live on in the hearts of his daughter, Giannia Hatton, of San Diego, California, his parents, Terry and Lorraine Hatton of Charleston, SC, sister Louise Hatton-Conway, also of Charleston, SC, nieces Emily Conway of York, ME, Molly Conway of Holly Hill, SC and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Joyce Hatton and Fernley and Margret Whitford. He was adored by so many people, family and friends. Richard, you will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Midtown Funeral Home and Cremation Options, 3918 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago. The gathering will begin at 12noon followed by the service at 1:00pm. Arrangements by Midtown Funeral Home and Cremation Options, 773.654.3744, www.midtownfunerals.com

My dear Richard, the sadness of your passing has left a deep hole in your family‘s heart, your parents, your daughter, your sister are grieving right now, but I hope that the extended family and friends will help ease that pain over time. I look back on the times that I spent at Family get togethers with you, my one regret is that I didn’t get to visit with you more often, but those family get togethers when our kids were very young are some of the most cherished memories. You will be remembered for your kindness, generosity, calmness, sweetness, and love of family. God bless you on your journey. Godspeed, lots of love, aunt Pat. xxx

Dear Richard I am very very sad to learn of your passing. I clearly remembered the good times we had playing soccer at Hilton Head years ago. The fond memories of you will forever remain in my thoughts. May God give you eternal rest. I pray that our Lord blessed and comforts you and your family during this difficult time.

I can’t tell you how sorry we are to hear about Richard’s passing. I know the both of you must be just destroyed right now. You know we’ve been through this, and I can honestly tell you that this will never go away and your heart will always have a piece that is missing. But as time passes, we can tell you that it gradually gets a little easier.

We remember Richard as a teenager with Lore playing Trivial Pursuit at our kitchen table. What fun we all had and what a very nice, kind boy he was. It’s rare that a teen would even want to be around his parents’ friends. He was an exceptional boy and an exceptional man.

Instead of sorrow, be thankful for the time that you had with him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

Bill and Anna

PS: And, remember that you still have a piece of him in his daughter.

Barry and I are so very sad to hear that Richard has passed away and our hearts go out to our dear friends Terry and Lorraine at this very sad time. Richard was a delightful little boy who loved his football and throughout his life he followed his beloved Liverpool and we will never forget taking him to his first game at Anfield. Richard you'll never walk alone.

Last Night I had a dream of being at a speech tournament with some of my high school students. Having been a high school teacher for 30 years. I often have these disturbing dreams. But last night was a kind of fun one because I was taking two students to our tournament that I thought they could win. And it was Lore and richard doing, full for love which was a scene they did in high school in their senior year. I hadn’t thought about this in a long time. Finding out that we lost richard shocks and saddens me. He was wonderful. He was a man before his time and I never thought of him as being a high school kid. I am sad to have lost touch with him because he was quite wonderful. How ironic that I was just in Chicago last week. I am so sorry for all of you whose lives he touched. But we are all lucky.
