Funeral Details

Our beloved father, Charles Chhun passed away in Cicero, Illinois on April 11, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary and his three children Stephanie, Michael and Lisa.
He was born in Cambodia on March 7, 1953, the 2nd eldest of 7 children. In 1982, he immigrated with his family to the United States after surviving the genocide in Cambodia. It was challenging navigating this new culture & country, but he was able to overcome any challenges in his path. In 1986, he graduated DeVry University with a diploma in Digital Electronic Engineering while working multiple jobs to support his family. After working a couple of years in corporate America, he realized that this was not his passion and pursued entrepreneurship as a small business owner. Just recently, in May 2023, he retired after working tirelessly for over 50 years.
Charles enjoyed many hobbies including singing, music, cars, traveling, eating, and most of all spending time with his family. He and his wife, Mary, embodied generosity, and love to everyone they encountered. Whenever they traveled back to their homeland, they never went empty-handed and would bring suitcases of clothes, electronics, and other needed items to give back to their communities. He was a true believer in the phrase, “Treat people the way you would want to be treated,” as anyone who knows him can attest.
In addition to leaving behind his wife and 3 children, he leaves behind 7 beloved grandchildren, Brianna, Nicole, Eric, Masen, Adelaide, Caleb, and his great-granddaughter, Leilani.
He will be greatly missed.
