I have known Dave for over 35 years. He started out as my handy man and became my friend. Jim and Dave used to talk about the Cubs, Bears, politics and food for hours. We saw him a few times a week, usually starting on Mondays. Our dog Marlowe would get zoomies when the phone rang and we said the words "we will put the kettle on." Marlowe knew his Uncle Dave was coming and welcomed him with tail wags and kisses. We reserved a special cup for his green tea. We laughed at his jokes.
Dave was always the one who could figure out any problem. He installed our copper spider on the roof of our house, then removed it and reinstalled it when we moved. He was always there when we needed him. Every room in our house has some project he did for us. He built me his famous raised planters a few months ago. I also have a spider birdhouse in our yard that Dave gave us two years ago. I loved helping him with projects and he always told Jim I was a great assistant. I am very proud of that.
Dave helped our friends and family with projects- he just finished one for our neighbor a week ago. We saw him last Thursday and expected his call this Monday. We got another call instead.
We send our heartfelt condolences to Dave's family. He talked about them every time he visited.
Our hearts are irrevocably broken by the loss of our friend. Rest in peace Dave. We love you and will miss you terribly.

I will miss Uncle Dave and all the memories from the past I remember as a kid swimming at his house and the trains going by while in the pool, then afterwards we went to the basement to play Uncle Dave's electronic games , especially the sawdust bowling game. Thanks for being a great brother to my mom and looking after her all the years, we all will miss you much God bless your nephew Mike (Grazian)

Our deepest condolences to Dave's family. We met Dave a little more than 5 years ago when he renovated our home to make it handicap accessible. He became a dear friend. We shared recipes, gardening tips, and fishing stories (real ones). Loved to hear Dave talk about fishing at Montrose Harbor as a boy and bringing home perch for dinner. He was a fantastic gardener and an artist to boot. Our yard now contains raised vegetable beds, beautiful flowers, and stunning birdhouses thanks to Dave. He was one of the kindest and most interesting persons we have ever met.

Thank you, Dave. We miss you and we will never forget you.
