OBITUARY

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Berbeka who left this world peacefully on March 4th 2024 surrounded by his family.

Jim was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jim was born on November 15th 1935 in Gdynia Poland, came to the United States in his early teens with his mother Anna and brother Casey, finally settling on Whipple St in Chicago where he remained for over 70 years.

Jim joined the Army and was proud to serve his country as an Engineer Equipment mechanic, he loved working on the tanks!. He began working as a mailman for the US Post Office for well over 30 years, he loved his job immensely and his customers loved him!


Jim enjoyed many hobbies including running (particularly marathons!) Biking (participating in countless races for numerous charities), and lots of traveling!
All who knew Jim seen him as a kind, selfless, caring & generous man. He would gladly give you the shirt of his back with no questions asked!

Jim is survived by his daughters Sharon Flowers and Leslie Jones, Son in law Randy Jones, Grandpa to Angie Flowers, Candace, Evan and Alyssa Crozier, Great Grampa to Adiston and Alister Stevens. Proceeded in death by His wife Cecelia Berbeka, daughter Camille Berbeka and son Mark Berbeka.

A Celebration of his life will be held Sunday March 17th 2024 from 2:00 to 5:pm at Midtown Funerals 3918 W. Irving Park Rd Chicago IL. Feel free to bring pictures, share memories and tell stories! Yellow was his favorite color if you have anything of this color in your closet please wear it!
