OBITUARY

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Enrique Marcano on March 23, 2024. Also known as “Kiko” or “Henry,” he was a loving father to Michael Ortiz, Iliana Marcano Rzodkiewicz, and Daniel Marcano and a loving grandfather to Ava, Jisella, and Luke.

Early on, he worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, moved on to start his own construction company after getting certified as a contractor, and was a long-time CPS employee working with unhoused youth and their families so that they could have equitable opportunities. In 2014, after experiencing heart failure, he received a new heart. He retired and focused on enjoying life and being with friends and family. The last ten years were a gift, and the 60 years before were a blessing. We are thankful to all of our family and his friends who would check in on him, listen to his political predictions, play chess with him, dance with him, laugh with him, and pray with him- all those moments meant so much to him.

Surrounded by his family, Dad shared that he felt so blessed to be on this earth, to have had 10 more years than he thought with his heart transplant and that he is ready to enter the kingdom of heaven. A committed Christian, Dad put all his faith and trust in God- providing him comfort and peace even in his final breaths. Our faith lies in that he will be reunited with his mother and father, Herminia and Merced Marcano; his sisters, Carmen Miriam Marcano Beltran and Norma Marcano Martinez, and his brother Marco Marcano; and our cousin Madie Beltran Hatfield, her son William Nathaniel Hatfield, and her father, Tony Beltran.

Dad told us, “I am ready.” God, we ask you and your angels to guide and welcome him to eternal peace. We love you forever, Dad.

A celebration of Enrique's life will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, at Midtown Funeral Home from 1 to 5 p.m. Dad's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread in Puerto Rico, where he had so many wonderful family memories and always loved to visit.
