OBITUARY
Willie Anthony Spivey, a beloved son, brother, husband, and uncle, departed this life peacefully on December 21, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on December 22, 1956 in Chicago, IL. to Maggie Westerfield Cox Spivey and Willie Spivey, Anthony, as he was known and later known as Tony, grew into a man known for his warm spirit, steady strength, and love for people.
He attended Chicago schools, graduating from De La Salle Institute High School in 1975. Anthony loved life, and his life was marked by compassion, resilience, and generosity. He loved debating or discussing any topic, enjoying the friendly banter. Anthony was passionate about wildlife, especially tropical fish. He always had an aquarium with exotic fish. He loved his dogs; Thor, Zeus, Odin and Diesel were his pride and joy. He enjoyed listening to music. Back in the day, he’d listen to his 45s and LPs. He even played a bass guitar; not great, but he thought he was jamming.
Anthony worked alongside his Dad at Stiffel Lamps for several years. He also worked as an auto mechanic. He had a gift of hospitality, making others feel seen and valued. His presence brought comfort and laughter to every room he entered. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a story, or simply listening, Anthony touched countless lives with his kindness and sincerity.
He took great pride in his family, cherishing every moment spent with those he loved. His legacy lives on through the memories he created, the lessons he shared, and the love he poured into the people fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife Cyndee Aiello, 6 fabulous nieces Kathy Stewart Lee, Verlina Stewart and Elaine Stewart all of Davenport, IA, Margaret Stewart-White, Summerville, SC, Kathryn Coleman-Hill and Laura Coleman both of DeKalb, MS.; 4 nephews Norman Stewart, San Diego, CA, Nathan Coleman, Marcus Coleman and Lazell Coleman all of DeKalb, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and their spouses; Annie Myrtle (Clinton Stewart) and Bettye Alice (Nathanial Coleman); and 2 nephews Gerome Coleman and Terry Coleman.
A celebration of Anthony’s life will be held on Monday January 19, 2026; 2:00-6:00 p.m.; at Midtown Funeral Home and Cremation Options, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and reflect on the beautiful impact he made in this world.
