Funeral Details

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dan Nham. Dan passed away on May 9, 2024 in Northbrook, IL at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife Hoa, daughter Samantha, son Alexander and wife Jean, and grandchildren Beau, Ruth, and Margaret.

Dan was born July 5, 1953 in Cholon, Vietnam. He worked for the U.S. Embassy when he was 20 and made his way to the United States shortly thereafter at the age of 22 in 1975. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1982 with a Master's degree in chemical engineering. He went to work for John Crane, Inc. for 36 years until his retirement as the Director of Engineering Systems in 2018. Dan and wife, Hoa, settled in Glenview in 1991 where they raised their family. Dan remained in Glenview for nearly the remainder of his life.

Dan was an intrepid traveler visiting countries across the globe throughout his life. He would also find pleasure in riding his bicycle along the North Branch Trail System, frequenting the Chicago Botanic Garden.

He loved his family unconditionally, and endlessly, especially later in life with the arrival of his grandchildren. Dan was generous, caring, and kind. He will be remembered as an irreplaceable husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He will be missed.

Services will be held at Midtown Funeral Home with visitation on May 14 from 3pm-8pm and funeral services on May 15, 2024 at 10am, followed by Dan's burial at Rosehill Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Phat Bao Temple in Des Plaines, IL where his memorial will be kept.
