Laura Elena Lopez Garcia, age 81

Beloved mother of Yolanda (Jose "Kike") Vicens, Beatriz Vicens, Herminio "Tito" (Suzan) Vicens, Danny (Peggy) Vicens and Orlando (Adriana Maldonado) Vicens. Honorary mother to William Vicens and Nicholas (Bella Ortiz) Vicens. Cherished grandmother to Melissa (Dimitrios) Chronakos, Miguel A. (Vaishali) Beltran, Juan Vicens, Daniel Vicens, Kyle (Allison) Vicens, Marcy (Joe Colon) Vicens, Johnny A. Hernandez, Jason Vicens, Meagan Theresa Vicens, Daniel Patrick Vicens, and Trevor Vicens. Adored Gigi to Julian Chronakos, Evangeline Vicens, Castiel and Sammy Colon, Yash and Veera Beltran. Devoted daughter of the late Pablo and Trinidad Lopez. Treasured sister of Genoveba "Tatin" Lopez, Carmen Delia "Melin" Lopez, the late Francisco "Kike" Lopez, Maria Julia "Yuyi" Lopez, the late Jose Lopez, Jose Antonio "Papo" Lopez, the late Pablo Lopez, Jr., and Ana Maria "Lourdes" Lopez. Loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dearly missed by her chihuahuas Beba, Chico and the late Chiquita Lopez, parrots and tiny turtle Lea.

Visitation Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 12PM to 8PM at Midtown Funeral Home and Cremation Options, 3918 West Irving Park Road, Chicago, Illinois 60618. Interment Private. A private family mass Saturday, August 29, 2026 at St. Alexis Catholic Church in Bensenville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chicago Botanic Gardens, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, IL 60022, www.chicagobotanic.org. A mis primos, Yolanda, Beatriz, Tito, Danny, Orlando y a la familia nuestro mas sentido pésame. Este mes compartí con Laura momentos donde sus brazos me consolaron y sentí su amor y gran corazón. Hoy me duele el alma el saber que ya no está físicamente pero confiada en que descansa junto a nuestro Padre Celestial.
En estos momentos no existen palabras de consuelo pero desde la distancia los abrazo a todos como también ustedes me abrazaron a mí cuando más lo necesité. Le ruego a Dios consuele sus corazones y que la familia permanezca más unida que nunca como se que hubiese querido Laura.

Laura was our next door neighbor and we loved her. She was kind and generous and always ready for an easy summertime chat, while watching her sweet little dogs run around her yard. Recently, when our town was creating sidewalks on our block, and Laura found out that the project supervisor was from Bayamon, she made a wonderful lunch (empanadas) for everyone on the crew. Most early mornings, while I was sitting and drinking my coffee, she was already up and dressed and walking outside, doing her exercise and putting me to shame!
Laura was so loved by her family, who visited her almost every day of the week. Her and her wonderful family would sit on her front porch and enjoy each other's company - she was rarely alone.
We were so blessed to know her and will miss her much. Our prayers are with her lovely family.

Me sorprendió mucho tu partida.Hoy quiero agradecerte lo mucho que querías a mami ,tu hermana(Melin) ,gracias por esa llamada de todos los días que ella recibía de ti,,eso significaba mucho para ella sé que ese recuerdo lo atesorará para siempre.Fuiste un gran ser humano, guerrera y muy persistente hasta lograr lo que te proponías siempre con Dios por delante.
