OBITUARY
Nhan Thi Nguyen was born on June 6, 1937 in Cho Huyen Village of Song Cau Township, in the Province of Phu Yen. She was the second-born child, and eldest daughter, in a family of six children. When she was young, she helped her parents trade goods and watched over her siblings. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Ngoc Van Dinh. Together, they worked hard and saved up money to open a business. She raised six children - five sons and one daughter. She taught her children to study and cared for the home, while her husband worked far away, during the Vietnam War. After 1975, life was difficult, but she and her husband started a new business, selling ice. Because her sons were of military service age, and in danger of being drafted, she and her husband had a fishing boat built and their family used it to flee the country along with many other refugees. In 1985, Nhan and her family sailed the boat, ladened with 79 passengers, across the sea to an island in the Philippines. During the difficult days at the Palawan refugee camp, she started a tiny business, selling bánh mì and groceries. She worked day and night to provide for her children. During that time, she felt hopeless and uncertain about her family's future. However, through God's Divine Love, the Holy Spirit guided and comforted them. They found the Lord on the island. In 1986, she and her family arrived in their new home in the United States. In the early days of her second homeland, she started a tailoring job, and worked for many years. After work, she studied English. On weekends she attended church. After she finally retired, she took care of her grandchildren. She has returned to God's kingdom. She lived in God's grace for 86 years. She is survived by her four sons, one late son (2007), one daughter, five daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, and eighteen grandchildren. She is a mother who will live forever in the hearts and minds of her children and grandchildren. Arrangements by Midtown Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 773.654.3744, www.midtownfunerals.com
