OBITUARY

Esther Manuela Vegiani (née Savoy Silva).

Esther Manuela Vegiani, 93 years young, of Chicago, formerly of Buenos Aires, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025.

Beloved wife of the late Pedro Arcangel Vegiani; cherished daughter of the late Emilio and Leonilda (Silva); and dear sister of the late Cholo, Cacho, Quina, Juan amd Raúl Savoy. She is survived by her devoted daughter Alicia Susana Giménez (husband Ramón Mario Giménez); her adoring granddaughters Sabrina Soledad Giménez Sealy (husband Randy, daughter Lucia Dolores) and Ximena Mayra Giménez (children Julián Lorenzo and Mila); her loving sister Angela Savoy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family across Argentina and the United States.

Born and raised in the town of San Antonio de Areco outside of Buenos Aires, Manuela carried her Argentine roots with deep pride. In October 1979, she and her husband Pedro bravely began a new chapter in Chicago. Though she left behind her siblings, mother, and lifelong friends, Buenos Aires remained forever in her heart.

In Chicago, Manuela poured her love into raising her granddaughters, caring for family children, cooking abundantly for all who entered her home, and supporting her son-in-law’s Argentine market. She also traveled widely with Pedro, exploring Las Vegas, Mexico, the Caribbean, Spain, and always returning to her beloved Buenos Aires.

Known for her gregarious spirit, warm humor, bright smile, and endless hospitality, Manuela welcomed everyone with open arms and an open door. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Viator Catholic Church, Chicago on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 12:30 pm. Manuela’s ashes will be lovingly returned to Argentina, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband and among her family and homeland.

Her memory lives on in the hearts of those she loved so fiercely.

Esposa querida del fallecido Pedro Arcángel Vegiani; hija amada de los fallecidos Leonilda y Emilio Savoy; y hermana entrañable de los fallecidos Juan, Raúl y María Savoy. Le sobreviven su dedicada hija Alicia Susana Giménez (esposo Ramón Mario Giménez); sus adoradas nietas Sabrina Soledad Giménez Sealy (esposo Randy, hija Lucia Dolores) y Ximena Mayra Giménez (hijos Julián Lorenzo y Mila); su querida hermana Angelita Savoy; así como numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y familiares en Argentina y Estados Unidos.

Nacida y criada en San Antonio de Areco, Buenos Aires, Manuela llevó siempre con orgullo sus raíces argentinas. En octubre de 1979, junto a su esposo Pedro, emprendió una nueva etapa en Chicago. Aunque dejó atrás a sus hermanos, a su madre y a sus amigos de toda la vida, Buenos Aires permaneció siempre en su corazón.

En Chicago, Manuela volcó su amor en la crianza de sus nietas, en el cuidado de los niños de la familia, en cocinar generosamente para todos los que entraban en su hogar y en ayudar en el mercado argentino de su yerno. Viajó también con Pedro a distintos lugares; Las Vegas, México, el Caribe, España, y siempre regresaba a su querida Buenos Aires.

Conocida por su espíritu alegre, sentido del humor, sonrisa luminosa y hospitalidad sin límites, Manuela recibía a todos con los brazos abiertos y una puerta siempre abierta. Su orgullo y alegría fueron sus nietos y bisnietos, la luz de su vida.

La Misa Funeral se celebrará en la Iglesia Católica de San Viator en Chicago el sábado 25 de octubre de 2025 a las 12:30 pm.

Las cenizas de Manuela serán llevadas con amor a la Argentina, donde descansará junto a su familia y en su tierra natal.
Su recuerdo vivirá para siempre en los corazones de quienes ella amó con tanta intensidad.
