I will always remember Ms. Lao fondly as Mrs. Truong, the mother of one of my best friends since the young age of 14. She was a constant presence, from Michelle’s gatherings at her house when we were teenagers, to parties held by Michelle and Adrian as adults, to their wedding, and their children’s birthday parties in recent years. She was such a warm and loving person, who shared her delicious food at said parties. We were so lucky to taste her amazing cooking! With my husband Phu having lost his mother when he was very young, Mrs. Truong tenderly showed our children a glimpse of another grandmother’s love, specifically, a Vietnamese grandmother’s love. She held our children and greeted them like family. For that, we are forever grateful. She was such a bright light, and will be greatly missed. We are so very sorry for your loss. To the family, especially Mr. Truong, please accept our deepest condolences. We are praying for all of you. Hoping you find some peace and comfort in the ones around you who love you in this difficult time.

My heart goes out to the family during this difficult time. I will always remember Mrs Truong, (or Michelle’s mom as I knew her) as a sweet, loving and welcoming person. She was one of the warmest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. From the times she would visit Michelle in college to the parties later in life, she would always greet me with the biggest smile in the world and the warmest of hugs. In college she would bring food and encourage Michelle to share with all of us which was so sweet. Her concern for Michelle’s friends’ welfare was endearing.
Although her presence amongst us can never be replaced, she leaves behind beautiful memories that bring joy to the hearts of everyone who knew her.
My deepest condolences go to Mr Truong, kids and everyone in her life. I consider myself fortunate to have been a part of her life. I hope you derive strength from all the love that surrounds you and it’s collective support lifts you up during this time.
