Jerald (Jerry) Farmer, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. Born on May 27, 1943, in Matoaka, West Virginia, Jerry lived a full and meaningful life marked by warmth, connection, and deep devotion to his family.

Jerry was known for his kind heart and his gift for conversation—traits that endeared him to everyone he met. He never met a stranger and had an uncanny ability to make people feel welcome and heard. His love for talking wasn’t just about words; it was about building relationships and sharing joy with those around him.

Family was at the center of Jerry’s world. He shared a loving marriage of 62 years with his wife, Edna Farmer, and took immense pride in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter Kimberly Maziarz (Bob); grandchildren Tonya Scharringhausen, Tiffany Scharringhausen, Timothy Scharringhausen, and Robert Maziarz; as well as his sisters Jamie Frye (Paul), Nancy Holbrook (Ron), and Melissa Farmer. Jerry’s heart swelled with pride when speaking of his grandchildren—each one a source of joy and fulfillment in his later years.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lois Farmer; daughter Sandra Farmer; sisters Charlotte Davis, Lara Harper, and Marlene Frye; brothers Steven Farmer and Darrell Farmer.

Jerry’s legacy is one of kindness, connection, and unwavering love for those closest to him. His presence brought light into every room he entered, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
